Alright, first off the majority of the article “What is Web 2.0″ by Tim O’Reilly was just a bunch of big words and jibber jabber. Overall I got the message of how Web 2.0 is the web of the future, but I couldn’t relate to the content of the article. I have to admit I learned a generous amount about Google and the journey they have taken to get to the high standard they are at now! It is truly amazing. It is no secret that the internet is constantly changing and with that comes the need to upgrade and revamp older applications. Who likes living in the past? With today’s generation it is all about the NEW! And not just new web applications or browsers, but new cars, electronics, clothing, etc. Let’s face it, if you don’t adjust to the changes happening around you, you will be left behind. The article gave me an insight on what I should keep in mind when designing a website for myself or company. But who knows, the internet is advancing at a remarkable rate and by that time we may be moving into Web 3.0! Or maybe not.
i would have to say that article was long so it was hard not let at least some things go over my head and i agree web 3.0 will be come to surface before long if not already!!!! in a way its so exciting with how everything advances but maybe im a late bloomer but everytime i get up to date i quickly become out of date
According to some web 3.0 is already here. (http://novaspivack.typepad.com/nova_spivacks_weblog/2007/10/web-30—-the-a.html).
I think a big take away is that since the web is a construct of humans, and humans continue to evolve, then the web will continue to evolve.
I agree with what you said about the terminology. I created a list of terms that might be helpful if you would like a copy. Some of them you might use regularly, and others might be completely useless, but overall, they should help. I think that web 2.0 focuses on the user and what he/she not only can do to be a part of the online communities growth, but also how companies can serve the user in their efforts to grow.
Talk to you in class soon.
I totally agree with your concept of not truley understanding the true context of the article because of its great length and strong use of vocabulary but to many people it seems only beneficial to do so. I became confused also threwout the reading and often kept drifting off into my own thoughts. Its great to know that the article has inspired new creative ideas for you. Web 3.0 will surely happen one day and could possibly already be upon us if thelev238 is correct.
Here’s a thought for you: when was the last time you saw an AOL 93.0 disc in your mail? Exactly. Web 2.0 thank God you’re here.
I only read two sentences: The first one, and the last one and I agree with them both.
